Mon Night

Had a great conversation about motivating faculty to use technology with a guy from a med school in Fort Worth this evening at the reception. It seems that he's working with a lot of the same issues as the work I'm doing. It's always nice to find others in completely different fields that are having the same sorts of experiences.

By far the best session I attended today was "Blended Learning and Course Redesign in Higher Education" given by two people from the University of Calgary. See my notes from the session. They had an excellent presentation that really probed into the issues of teaching presence in online and hybrid learning, as well as challenged us to think critically about what blended learning really is. Notably, they brought the Clark/Kozma debate up, taking the side of Clark.
